Energy-Efficiency Upgrades
A free energy survey revealed a number of lighting upgrades that would help a fitness facility save money and energy. Con Edison provided four free CFLs, replaced 69 fluorescent bulbs and ballasts, and changed out 20 exit sign lamps throughout the facility. These simple energy-efficiency improvements are expected to help the customer save nearly $10,000 on energy bills annually.
Since Con Edison pays 70% of the cost of recommended improvements, the facility paid only 30% out-of-pocket. Because of the money the customer is now saving on energy bills, the investment paid for itself in less than three months.
